Obama Foundation Intern

January - May 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Loved getting to work in a fast paced environment focused on leadership development world wide. Great experience to see how international events are planned from one location.

What I wish was different

Advice

Really take the opportunity to branch out and get to know as many people as you can, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle at a large company.

Fellow

June - October 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved being able to be around other fellows who had the same goals and ideas as me. The program makes sure you feel like you belong. I got to meet people who were involved with juveniles, education, and mental health. I loved being able to apart of a design-thinking project that can make a difference for younger generations.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more fellows involved in Criminal Justice. Mostly, everyone I met was an education major and it was hard to be passionate about my project. I met a few people who wanted to work with juveniles, but I couldn't work with them since we weren't in the same cohort.

Advice

If you're passionate about changing the educational justice system and making a difference with High School Students, this is a good opportunity for you. Also, when it comes to team-work or group work, it's okay to agree or disagree. Don't be afraid to say "No, I don't like this,"
