DNA Extraction Technician
CSP Labs is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join, at the entry level, our genotyping laboratory. This is a full time position with a 1 year term with the possibility of renewal. The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out DNA extractions from fruit and vegetable seeds and various leaf tissues.

Responsibilities
- Routinely collect, count, weigh, divide, and grind seed and leaf tissue
- Routinely run a high throughput automated robotic DNA extraction system
- Routinely wash and sterilize reusable lab supplies
- Enter and track samples using our LIMS, Access, and Google sheets
- Independently follow SOPs (standard operating procedures), verbal and written instructions to complete routine laboratory work
- Operate various types of equipment such as automated liquid handling systems, multichannel pipettors, grinders, seed counters, centrifuges, etc.
- Periodically work under noisy conditions using hearing protection
- Liquid handling with manual and electronic pipettes
- Basic lab chores (make buffers, autoclave materials, etc.) and general lab housekeeping (wash glassware, clean and tidy work area, etc.)
- Keep track of consumables inventory
- Assist with other lab tasks or processes as needed
Requirements
- Must be able to work independently once trained
- Must be willing to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time
- Proactive listener/learner: asks questions to ensure clarity
- Good organizational skills – can independently plan and complete multiple tasks on time
- Responsible time management skills: able to self-maintain a flexible work schedule & prioritize workflow for efficiency and throughput.
- Must be a team player and respectful to others
- Possesses good math skills (basic arithmetic and algebra)
- Proficient in computer use (Gmail, Google Docs, Microsoft 365)
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift to 40 lbs.
- Associate of Science/Arts degree or Bachelor of Science/Arts preferred
- Available M-F, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
