Intern- Environmental Services Specialist

Job Summary

Work alongside the Environmental Team to apply knowledge of Environmental Science through hands on training, projects and are in alignment with Graniterock’s Strategic Priorities and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Comply, understand, and promote corporate and division safety initiatives to ensure “Safety before All Else.”
  2. Prepare reports and preform compliance-required activity for air, water and other environmental permits.
  3. Learn about the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and related laws and regulations that assist in the development of environmental plans and special projects.
  4. Assist in preparing and performing procedures for sampling and monitoring general air, water (surface and groundwater), noise parameter data, analysis and reporting of results.
  5. Assist in vegetative monitoring, data analysis and land management techniques for mitigation and reclamation projects.

Education and Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably a current Environmental Engineering or Sciences Student.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess strong communication, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Microsoft Word/Excel skills.
  • GIS software skills desirable.
  • Knowledge of Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, hazardous materials and waste regulations as adopted and implemented in California a plus.
  • Knowledge of California plant and animal species, weed management techniques, seed collection and propagation.
  • Possess a strong desire to work on a team, solve problems and grow professionally.

 

OTHER COMMENTS: Positions require a valid CA Driver’s License and clean driving record.
