Riverfront Farm Internship 2025

     Riverfront Farm, is a ⅓ acre farm established in July 2017 as part of the Community Food Program, formerly known as West Sacramento Urban Farm Program, under the non-profit, Center for Land-Based Learning. Riverfront Farm produces fresh and local, fruit, vegetables and herbs which are primarily sold through our West Sacramento and Woodland Mobile Farmers' Market. Excess produce are also distributed through Yolo Food Bank, on-site farm stand sales, CSA boxes, and nearby restaurants.

     The Riverfront Farm Internship is a part-time, unpaid internship for students who are looking to gain internship hours or units at their university/college, experience working in agriculture as a short/long-term career or simply interested in learning more about connections between local food, communities and helping to improve the environment.

The ideal candidates for the internship are best described as:

  • Hard-working, curious, and motivated to work and learn about how we grow and deliver our produce from farm to fork
  • Physically and mentally prepared to work on the field, harvest produce, weed, and prune plants during the hotter and busiest part of the season (June-September)
  • Shows up on time and is communicative if coming in late
  • Receptive to critiques and open to sharing different strategies and ideas with Riverfront Farm team to improve work flow
  • Enjoys working outdoors and with the plants and soil

Internship Description:

  • Interns will be properly guided, mentored and observed on how to harvest all vegetables and herbs grown on the farm, bed preparation, tool safety, irrigation set-up and basic plant maintenance
  • Interns will get the opportunity to lead a personal project of their choice on the farm
  • Interns are expected to be on the farm, ready to work from between 7:30/8 am-12:30pm and get bring home a bag of fresh veggies & herbs and free plants!
  • We recommend that interns are prepared for the hotter months and bring their own hats, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, closed-toe shoes, water bottles and snacks for breaks
  • If you need any documents such as an Hours/Time Sheet or Letter of Recommendations signed for school, please talk to Farm Manager, Khristine Pintor

Work Schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:30/8AM-12:30 PM (flexible with your schedule, just let me know)
