Advocate/Mentor for at-risk youth

Position Summary:

The Advocate/Mentor will play a crucial role in supporting the RCC Project Restore organization's 16-18 week youth diversion program. As an Advocate/Mentor, you will meet at-risk youth where they are, providing guidance, mentorship, and advocacy to help redirect their life's trajectory. This position requires a stable and compassionate adult who is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of youth.
 

Responsibilities:

- Meet at-risk youth in their environments, such as schools, neighborhoods, or community centers.

- Build trust and establish rapport with youth to understand their needs and challenges.

- Provide guidance and mentorship to help youth make positive choices and redirect their life's trajectory.

- Advocate on behalf of at-risk youth to address their unmet needs and challenges.

- Help youth navigate educational institutions and community organizations.

- Connect youth with resources that promote personal growth, education, employment, and overall well-being.

- Provide ongoing support and encouragement to youth to help them overcome obstacles.

- Build positive relationships with at-risk youth, their families, and support systems.

- Ensure that the youth set SMART goals and accomplish them.

 

Qualifications:

- Stable adult with a strong commitment to supporting at-risk youth.

- A desire to work with at-risk youth, preferably in a mentorship or advocacy role.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.

- Ability to provide non-judgmental support and maintain confidentiality.

- Familiarity with community resources and service providers for youth.

- Valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and car insurance.
 

Working Conditions:

- The Advocate/Mentor will primarily work in non-office settings, meeting at-risk youth in their environments.

- This position may require evening and weekend availability.

- Some travel within the community may be necessary to connect with youth and access resources.
