Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Intern
The Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Intern will support Global Diversity & Inclusion initiatives interacting with senior leadership, HR Partners, and the Lumentum Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council, and the Marketing and Communication team. The DIB intern role is aligned to support the Vice President Talent and Chief Diversity Officer but will interact with the HR team broadly in support of Lumentum Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Support Global Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging with planning and execution of programs
- Conduct research on best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Assist with creating and posting social media content for related DEI topics
- Assist with execution of Diversity Impact Award quarterly process
- Own and execute on updating and maintaining DEI LumenNet page
- Partner with ERG leaders on updates and maintenance of ERG LumenNet pages
- Provide day to day support which may include analysis of data, initiating and driving learning and programs, streamlining processes, and generating reports
- Assist in the development of outreach strategies for community engagement
- Research and provide recommendations on resources for building and retaining diverse talent
- Research and engagement with partners to plan and/or support diversity programs and events
- Work in partnership with HR and business partners in the development of action-oriented programs for underrepresented groups
- Assisting with employee engagement activities including supporting our employee resource groups and community service activities
- Special projects and ancillary duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Business, HR, Analytics or a related major.
Desired Qualifications:
- Effective written and verbal communications skills
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to clearly articulate strong career interest in the field of Human Resources, particularly related to Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging
- Leadership potential and competencies as evidenced by good citizenship, achievement and involvement in non-academic pursuits such as extracurricular activities, community service, or special projects
- Prior intern experience working in a corporate environment preferred
- Progressive responsibilities and scope of assignments
- Functional excellence and a spirit of cooperation and collaboration
Lumentum DIB Scholarship
Lumentum awarded scholarships of $10,000.00 to 10 of our FY23 U.S. based interns from underrepresented groups. We will also award scholarships in FY24. Pay Range: $23.75-$54.50/hour
