Are you looking for an opportunity to travel throughout California and enforce environmental laws and regulations to protect public health, safety, and the environment? If so, CalRecycle's Waste Tire Enforcement Program has a position that might be right for you.

The program's goal is to obtain compliance with California's waste tire laws and regulations through education and enforcement, and to provide a level playing field for regulated entities. Inspectors in CalRecycle's Tire Enforcement Section travel throughout the state to conduct field inspections at waste tire facilities, determine the significance of violations, and take appropriate enforcement actions against non-compliant sites, while working closely with local agencies and CalRecycle's Legal Office.

This position is currently telework centric, and occasionally reports to headquarters for hands on meetings. The position provides a mix of independent and team-oriented field work, research, analysis, report writing and correspondence. Please see the duty statement for additional information about this job.

This position requires that you possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your applications. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions. Failing to maintain a valid CDL will result in a failure to meet job requirements.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
