Event Planning Internship

Overview:  
  • Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT) is seeking dedicated Event Planning Interns to assist in the coordination and execution of CHAT's events, workshops, fundraisers, and volunteer appreciation activities. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event management while contributing to CHAT's mission of addressing housing challenges in Chico, California.  
  
Responsibilities:  
  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and organizing various events hosted by CHAT, including fundraisers, community workshops, volunteer appreciation events, and other engagement activities.  
  • Logistics Support: Work closely with a team to coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, catering, equipment rental, and event setup  
  • Communication: Assist in event-related communication, including invitations, RSVPs, event announcements, and follow-ups with attendees and volunteers.  
  • Volunteer Engagement: Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and manage volunteers for events, ensuring adequate support during event setup, execution, and cleanup.  
  • On-Site Support: Provide on-site support during events to ensure smooth execution, address any issues that may arise, and assist attendees and participants as needed.  
  • Budget Management: Assist in tracking event-related expenses and maintaining budget records to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines.  
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Help gather feedback from event participants, volunteers, and stakeholders to assess event success and identify areas for improvement.  
  • Post-Event Follow-Up: Assist in post-event activities, such as thank-you notes to sponsors, donors, and volunteers, as well as post-event reports.  
  
Qualifications:  
  •  Previous experience in event planning is advantageous but not mandatory.  
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.  
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.  
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and work effectively within a team environment.  
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Demonstrated capacity to think critically and handle challenges proactively.  
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.  
  • Enthusiasm: A positive and proactive attitude towards event planning and execution.  
  
Duration:  
  •  This internship position will last for one semester, with the option for extension based on mutual agreement and organizational needs.  
  
Location:  
  • The internship will be based in Chico, California, with opportunities for remote work when necessary. On-site presence will be required during events.
