2023 Winery Harvest Internship
Balletto Vineyards is seeking cellar help for the 2023 harvest. Duties will include every aspect of producing premium Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and others in small, distinct lots.
The start date will be August and the internship will run through October, possibly into November, depending on the growing season. Lunch is provided every other day during harvest. Snacks included!
The cellar harvest intern plays an integral part in making the highest quality wine possible. Primary duties will include processing and sorting grapes, punch-downs/pumpovers, loading presses, emptying fermentation tanks, barrel work, wine movements and lots of cleaning. There will be opportunities for sensory evaluation of fermenting lots and finished wines.
The winery is located west of Santa Rosa and is also the home to a handful of custom crush clients, which will allow interns to see several different winemaking styles and philosophies during the season.
Pay rate will be $18/hr - $21/hr depending on experience. (There will be overtime and double-time pay during the peak of the season.)
Interns must be willing to work long, extended hours including weekends during the peak of harvest and have a passion for wine and winemaking. The ideal candidate will have prior harvest experience, but applicants without direct cellar experience will be considered. The job is physically demanding and applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs (case of wine) and be willing to perform repetitive tasks.
Balletto Vineyards is one of the few 100 percent estate grown and estate bottled wineries in the Russian River Valley. The family-owned winery sources all its fruit from its own vineyards, and specializes in Russian River Valley AVA and vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, which are consistently elegant, balanced and delicious.
