Interpretive Park Aide
Location: Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park, 144 School Street Santa Cruz CA 95060
Salary and Timebase: $17.49 per hour. Part time including weekends and holidays, up to 1800 hours per year
Duties: This uniformed position is responsible for conducting and assisting with interpretive programs at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park (SCMSHP), hosting the museum and visitor center, coordinating the tour reservation system, and coordinating special events. The position also assists with grounds and facilities housekeeping, volunteer coordination, social media and publicity. Estimated 50% administration, 40% interpretation. 10% grounds and facilities housekeeping. This position will work under the supervision of the District Interpreter III, and the general direction of the SCMSHP Interpreter I in the park.
Minimum Qualifications: Individual must have excellent organizational skills and work well with adults and children; possess good oral and written communication skills; and have an interest in California cultural history. Must possess basic computer skills and social media competency. Educational background or experience in history, anthropology, or archaeology is advantageous. Ability to bend, sit, stand for periods of time, to lift and carry items over 25 lbs., and to walk over uneven surfaces.
