Global Supply Chain Intern (Summer 2023)

Applied Materials’ Global Supply Chain Department is searching for interns to join our team in summer 2023! Interns will work in the Global Supply Chain group supporting Commodity Business Managers, Procurement/Materials Managers and Supply Chain Analytics. Commodity Business Managers are responsible for supplier selection, supplier management, commercial negotiations, and creating and executing commodity strategies. Procurement and Materials Managers are responsible for ensuring timely delivery of materials to our factories while meeting cost and quality targets. The position will entail the following:

·      Completing supplier request for quotations (RFQs)
·      Working with suppliers on obsolescence compliance and training
·      Preparing supplier profiles for presenting to management
·      Performing part analytics to ensure parts are assigned to the proper commodity family
·      Interacting with Suppliers on cost reduction opportunities
·      Supporting Commodity Business Managers in various tasks including meeting & presentation preparation, supplier management, quarterly business reviews, supplier capacity reviews
·      Perform Buyer functions, including: Creating, re-scheduling, and cancelling POs per MRP
·      Call suppliers to get material status and expedite material
·      Resolve Accounts Payable issues related to PO invoice and receipt discrepancies
·      Find alternate/emergency sources for material
·      Provide material delivery updates directly to factory stakeholders and leadership
·      Mitigate excess POs and inventory through supplier negotiations
·      Perform MRP and Spend Analytics looking for optimization of business practice
 
Requirements
  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or a related field
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Quick learner
  • Willing to ask questions
  • Desire for continuous learning and improvement
