Description: Northern Valley Catholic Social Service Shasta Baby’s Steps Program based on the Healthy Families of America model will oversee Shasta County. This is a voluntary program for new or expectant parents and was designed to promote positive parenting, enhance child health and development, and prevent child abuse and neglect. Child development education is a critical complement of this program.  This is an evidence-based program that provides tools to families and will require working in the client’s home. 

Examples of Duties: Under the direction of Shasta Baby Steps Supervisor, the Shasta Baby Steps Family Support Worker shall conduct outreach, conduct home visits with assigned families and provide support for fathers and mothers.  The FSW will help families identify strengths, develop a strong parent/child bond, set and meet goals, and develop parenting skills. The position will carry a caseload of around 20 clients and will provide case management to those families that are program eligible. Services may include but are not limited to home visiting, referring to health and community providers, transporting clients to services and will be responsible to complete reports and program documentation in a timely manner. Services are provided mostly Monday- Friday. However, there may be a time when the candidate will work an occasional early evening or on a Saturday.

Qualifications: BA required. BA/BS in social services, child development and/or nursing field preferred. Successful candidates will have good communication skills, reliable transportation and a clean DMV. Home visiting experience, Medi-Cal billing and willing to work with Clients in person are a plus.  

Salary:$21.54
