Job Description 
CSU, Chico’s Office of University Communications is looking for digital storytellers to create weekly content on the University social media channels. You will be a part of our growing social media team and will create weekly social media content for the University community and its student body.  
 
About the Job 
This position allows a student to help promote the University through sharing digital stories across our large online community. The digital storyteller's role includes assisting with content production for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You will work within the social media team to pitch content ideas and bring them to life. This role requires experience with social media video creation, graphic design, writing, interviewing, and strong interpersonal communication. 
 
The best candidates will be excited about a variety of social media content and trends, be passionate about Chico State, be highly collaborative, and feel comfortable talking in front of a camera. Work hours are typically scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday–Friday, but occasional event coverage in the evenings or on weekends required. 
 
This role will be reviewed per semester for approval to continue on through May 2023. Generally, students that are completing their assignments and showing a passion for the work and a collaborative attitude will continue in this role through May 2023. 
 
This role begins this Summer, between June 20 and 28. Summer hours will be used for onboarding, workshops, content creation for the Fall semester and team building.  
 
Responsibilities 
  • Pitch content ideas that support the digital goals of the University social media channels 
  • Bring content to life, from the idea, to coordination, to storyboarding, to creating the content (filming, interviewing, editing, designing, etc.) 
  • Deliver multiple assigned content pieces a week, and schedule/live post content 
  • Help monitor social media activity related to the University 
  • Collaborate with campus groups or University Communications professionals to deliver social media assets for special projects 
  • Attend programs/events and post live updates, often with photos, video, and other content

Mandatory Vaccinations
 
The CSU will require faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19. This requirement will be effective at the beginning of the fall 2021 term or upon the full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of one or more vaccines, whichever occurs later.
