Job Description 
CSU, Chico’s Office of University Communications is looking for 2 assistant podcast producers to help develop a new podcast show that uplifts the exciting discoveries and thought leadership happening within the Chico State community. You will be a part of small podcast team tasked with creatively shaping and coordinating the production of our new podcast show. 
 
About the Job 
This position allows a student to creatively impact the development and production of our upcoming podcast show. Pitch story ideas, coordinate guest interviews, help manage the podcast content calendar and develop show promotion ideas. This role requires a passion for storytelling, delegation skills, and an aptitude for detail management. Experience with creating any form of digital storytelling is a bonus, from podcast to TikToks to YouTube videos. 
 
The best candidates will be excited about podcast shows, be passionate about Chico State, be highly collaborative, and feel comfortable reaching out to potential guests via phone and email. Work hours are typically scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday–Friday, but occasional event coverage in the evenings or on weekends required. 
 
This role will be reviewed per semester for approval to continue on through May 2023. Generally, students that are completing their assignments and showing a passion for the work and a collaborative attitude will continue in this role through May 2023. 
 
This role begins this Summer, between June 27 and July 5. Summer hours will be used for onboarding, developing the podcast show, creating a promotion plan with assets, planning out future episodes and team building.  
 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Pitch podcast show content ideas and give feedback on team content ideas 
  • Coordinate podcast interviews, from outreach to prepping guests on what to expect 
  • Research upcoming podcast show guests and support the show host by prepping interview questions 
  • Provide editing notes podcast show editor 
  • Co-manage podcast content calendar, overseeing deadlines and production details 
  • Coordinate show marketing efforts with University Communications social media team

Mandatory Vaccinations
 
The CSU will require faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19. This requirement will be effective at the beginning of the fall 2021 term or upon the full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of one or more vaccines, whichever occurs later.
