Laboratory Instrument Technician
Sierra BioSystems’ mission is to increase access to the tools of genetic research around the world. Our focus is on instrumentation that creates oligonucleotides – synthetic DNA – that can then be used to discover, diagnose, and treat illnesses.
 
We are growing our service team and are looking for applicants with strengths in creative problem solving and client management. An aptitude for technical service will also be essential. A basic understanding of engineering and/or chemistry is preferred. 
 
Most of the work will be in Sonora, CA , USA.

Your Responsibilities and Duties:
 
You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and serve as a local and remote instrument technician and assembler.
 
As an instrument technician, your responsibilities include:
·        Understanding the function of the instruments being serviced, where they fit into the researcher’s workflow, and how the researcher will interact with them
·        Performing the end-to-end assembly of each instrument
·        Diagnosing and correcting instrument errors – often remotely
·        Traveling to customer facilities and performing technical duties on-site
·        Maintaining good laboratory practice
·        Interacting with customers in a positive way and understanding that every customer interaction is a chance to advance the company and your position within it
 
 

 
Job Requirements:
 
Your qualifications
 
Must:
·        Bachelor’s degree
·        Strong problem-solving ability
·        Evident customer management skills
·        Aptitude for technical work
·        Fluent with MS office productivity tools
·        Detail-oriented
·        Enjoy working with physical instruments
·        Enjoy traveling (possibly up to 50%)
·        Driver’s license
 
 
The following qualifications are a big plus:
·        Understanding of organic chemistry, biochemistry, and/or biochemical syntheses
·        Laboratory experience
·        Experience in machining and/or engineering
·        Assembly experience
·        Experience in sales
