Chico Walk to End Alzheimer’s Intern

The position’s importance to the Association mission: The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s research, care and support of those currently living with the disease, and advocacy. The goals of the Walk are to raise funds to support the programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Association; to attract walkers and produce a safe and fun Walk; to increase general awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and the Association.
The goal or purpose of this internship: To understand the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association and the integral role the Walk plays in this mission. This position will assist in all aspects of organizing and execution of the Chico and Yuba City Walk to End Alzheimer’s, as well as the planning of the pre-Walk wrap around events.
Responsibilities:
● Recruitment, outreach and onboarding of volunteers
● Recruitment and outreach to new team prospects
● Marketing outreach and media advertising coordination
● Assist in planning and execution of Walk Kickoff Events
● Support and coordination of various Walk day logistics
● Stewardship of top sponsor and fundraisers
● Solicit in-kind donations
Qualifications:
● Excellent writing and communication skills
● Strong interest in Internet Marketing
● Google Suite management preferred
● Event organization and management experience
● Ability to work well with a team
● Previous volunteer experience beneficial
Time Commitment:
● 12 – 15 week duration, 10 hours per week commitment + key event hours
Experience expected to be gained through this internship:
● Marketing and public relations; providing printed materials and information to those interested in Walk; Mass marketing strategies
● Market research; Collecting data from a variety of sources including event surveys; Competitive analysis
● Holistic communication; Organizational and interpersonal skills
● Database maintenance; Generating and evaluating reports
● Social media content creation
● Non-profit management experience
● Increased knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and its impact on rural communities
