CSUC Outdoor Classroom Internship

Share a love of the Outdoors by inspiring elementary and secondary students at Chico State’s OUTDOOR CLASSROOM. Set in beautiful Big Chico Creek and Butte Creek Canyons, our program can fit with your school schedule while you earn internship credits or service hours. Paid positions and work study also a possibility. We can use interns from any major. Have fun, earn credits, inspire kids, and enjoy camaraderie with other interns. One to three mornings a week (school days). Please provide weekday morning availability in your cover letter.

What you will do:
• Assist leaders with teaching modules on the Reserves and in classrooms
• Supervise kids
• Organize and set up field trip materials
• Communicate with teachers and chaperones
• Collaborate on the development of activities

What you will learn:
• Classroom management skills
• Organizational skills
• Teaching individually and in a team
• Local natural history
• How to research, design and implement an educational activity
Can be an internship for credit or paid position .

Pay ranged based on the level of experience:
Level I (entry-level) - minimal job-related experience or no previous experience required. On-the-job training is provided.
Level II - student has some job-related experience, education, or specialized skills

Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work. Student employees not meeting this requirement may be released from employment.
