TWTS Conference Marketing Student Coordinator Job Description:
This Way To Sustainability Conference is a multidisciplinary, nationally recognized, student-run conference focused on challenges, ideas, and solutions as we work toward a resilient and sustainable future.

The Marketing Student Coordinator (MSC) is responsible for marketing the event and other conference related activities through multi-media approaches including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the CSU, Chico Sustainability Website. The MSC is responsible for helping develop a creative marketing strategy to maximize participation in the TWTS conference program and activities. 

Duties may include but are not limited to:
·        Create the conference program for print and online distribution
·        Assist with creating a themed image to match the conference theme
·        Design and coordinate all print materials including fliers, posters, and conference programs
·        Market the event using traditional marketing such as radio and print advertising as well as social media (Facebook; Twitter; Instagram; Website)
·        Coordinate marketing materials with all local media campus and community media outlets such as the Chamber of Commerce, DCBA, and Chico News & Reivew
·        Create signage for the conference
·        Complete other duties as assigned

Marketing Student Coordinator (MSC) Expectations
·        Working together with the TWTS Planning committee, the MSC will establish a theme for the conference and develop a number of images for the committee to select from
·        Attend leadership training sessions for all TWTS coordinators
·        Bring a positive attitude to the team and work cohesively with all members of the team
·        Provide regular progress reports on assignments to the Planning Committee
·        Post all documents in shared file folders on Box.com
·        Attend all planning meetings
·        Be accountable; complete all tasks on time
·        Create a “standard operating procedure” (SOP) for the MSC position
·        At the close of the conference, write a summary with suggestions for improvement and complete a reflection survey on the conference

Required Time Commitment
·        The 2020 conference is scheduled for April 16-17, 2020. Please plan to attend both days in full, and to contribute up to 20 hours each week for the two weeks leading up to the event.
·        As part of the conference, all student employees will be required to attend monthly planning meetings with the executive committee as well as internal staff meetings. Availability is highly preferred for the following Thursday mornings from 10am-11am: September 5, September 19, October 3, October 17, October 31, November 14, and December 12. If the Thursday morning time conflicts with your schedule, please explain that in your application so it can be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
·        Graphic design experience
·        Web experience including designing graphics and written content for websites or blogs
·        Experience using social media to market and reach a target audience, especially in a higher education setting which includes faculty or students at a university 
·        Upper division coursework in sustainability and/or working knowledge of campus and community issues related to sustainability research and efforts
