Junior Software QA Engineer

TiBiT Communications, Inc. is a Petaluma, CA based startup that offers a disruptive technology
that will fundamentally change the way broadband access is deployed in the Service Provider
markets worldwide (Cable MSO, Telco and Wireless). TiBiT provides small, low powered
solutions that can be easily placed anywhere in the network to enable multi-Gigabit connectivity
for low-end cost effective switching equipment in a Software Defined Network.
TiBiT recently announced the availability of the world's first fully pluggable Optical Line
Terminal (OLT), the Tibit MicroPlug™ OLT. A complete network access device for 10-Gigabit
Passive Optical Networking (PON), the MicroPlug™ OLT dramatically reduces the footprint,
power consumption, cost, and amount of application-specific hardware needed for network
deployments .
About the Role:
TiBiT is looking for a Junior Software QA Engineer to help design, develop, execute and
automate product verification tests based on customer and Telecommunications/Networking
Industry requirements to ensure continued overall system quality is delivered with every release.
The candidate will need to learn about Product Development Lifecycle processes and
understand the benefits of which engineering methodology best fits the company’s needs. A
technical knowledge of PON systems will help the candidate build the skills essential to develop
effective test strategies and automation. Building out system applications and solutions in a
Laboratory environment is core to establish a sound base upon which to grow evolving
networking test strategies.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Test new features introduced with every system release and report test results.
• Develop Test Automation using Python for continuous integration testing using Jenkins.
• Test system level functionality to guarantee no degradation exists from release to release.
• Identify issues found through effective testing and report using Jira.
• Help drive closure towards attaining compliance with external expectations.
• Maintain and evolve Lab system environments to scale with the growth of the product line.
• Understand customer and industry requirements from Telecom Carriers, Cable Providers, and
Industry Standards, such as IEEE, ITU-T, DOCSIS and Telcordia.
Qualifications and Skills:
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or EE.
• Ability to work with Linux.
• Ability to develop Object Oriented test case automation using languages such as Python,
Java or C++.
• Effective debugging skills are essential to quickly identify root cause of issues found.
• Work with various network interfaces to communicate with test equipment, such as, Serial,
GPIB, USB and Ethernet.
• Work with test and network equipment command line languages such as vendor specific
API & SCPI.
• Networking knowledge and skills are a plus.
