Engineering Intern
As the Engineering Intern you will assist the Engineering and Manufacturing staff in supporting capital improvement projects through support work, as directed, and minor projects as assigned. Success in this position will contribute to furthering the Engineering team’s ability to support area project owners, capital budget tracking, project development & completion, and vendor & contractor interactions.
Our goal is for this to be a 1 year internship. Full-time during summer break and then part-time and flexible during the school year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student going into their last year to gain some real world experience from seasoned professionals.
Duties will include:
- Performing general layout duties utilizing AutoCAD or similar software to facilitate project layouts
- Working with AnyLogic software to develop digital twins.
- Offering alternative project concepts for consideration by the Engineering Team
- Conducting field verifications and contractor contacts as directed
- Verifying project layout and/or equipment measurements as needed and directed
- Acting as contractor liaison for Engineering group communications as directed
- Supporting process improvement or problem-solving efforts
- Collect & analyze data in support of improvement or problem-solving objectives
- Performing research to help identify equipment or tool recommendations
- Assisting with Capital budget support work as directed
- Complete data entry of invoices and purchase orders utilizing Business Central and Excel
- Managing project digital file, hard copy filing, and documentation support
- Create Excel spreadsheets and perform data input & analysis as required
- Update needed process documents (One Point Lessons, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Preventative Maintenance (PM), etc.)
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or masters in Engineering degree with an emphasis in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Construction/Project Management or related fields. (graduates or non-students will not be considered).
- Proficient with AutoCAD LT.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- 3 years of direct work experience in above areas of study will be considered if combined with computer and AutoCAD experience.
- Bilingual Spanish.
