Mechanical/Chemical Engineering Intern

This position will assist with various engineering work assignments within Redding Electric Utility (REU) and perform related work as required.

This position is located in Redding, CA working Monday-Friday during the summer.


Examples of Duties: 
Come support the City of Redding’s Engineering division!
• Organize electronic and hard copy drawings and construction plans. 
• Gather, compile, tabulate, and report statistical data. 
• Assist in research projects, special reports, and special projects. 
• Acquire working knowledge of department practices, procedures, equipment, and organizational systems. 
• Assist in creating as-built drawings. 
• Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance. 
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:
Academic status at an accredited college or university taking courses as a full-time student leading to a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree or a degree in a field related to the work which is performed.

 

Knowledge of:
• General Engineering Methodologies in Mechanical/Chemical discipline. 
• Basic principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics. 
• Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, database familiarity, general computer skills.
• Record-keeping and organizational methodologies.

 

Ability to: 
• Reason logically, draw sound conclusions, and make recommendations; learn to assist in performing assigned technical functions; gather and analyze data; understand oral and written instructions; compose clear and concise reports, both orally and in writing; analyze a variety of technical problems and make sound recommendations.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
• Collect, compile, analyze, interpret, and present statistical data. 
• Work outdoors in severe weather conditions and indoor office environments.
