Job Description

Applicant Information

We are looking for a greenhouse and field technician to join our research and development team. If you are passionate about food security, nutrition, environmental sustainability, plant genetics, food science, or even just chickpeas in general, please apply!

Time commitment: We are looking for interns that can commit a minimum of 10 hours per week. Interns have the option for more hours (up to 20 per week) should their schedule permit.

Qualifications

Qualities and characteristics that will enable a candidate to succeed in this position:

• Educational background: BS optional; Working towards a BS degree in a discipline of the biological sciences or plant sciences (preferred)
• Ability to effectively and reliably record and manage data (required)
• Organized, self-starter with experience working in small teams (required)
• Collaborative team member with a growth mindset (required)
• Experience working with standard computer software (required)
• Experience working in a greenhouse/field (preferred)
• Experience working in a lab setting (preferred)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and label chickpea field and greenhouse samples
• Collect agronomic and phenotypic data
• Support field and greenhouse crossing, harvest and threshing activities
• Process field material and enter it into inventory
• Fill pots with soil, soil sterilizing and maintain supplies
