Horticulture Internship - LA County
Lettuce Grow provides customers with farmstands, plants and community resources to grow their own vegetables and herbs at home. Our team is currently seeking a Horticulture Intern to assist with a variety of hydroponic growing activities. This includes working directly with our Director of Horticulture on research and development projects, marketing event support, plant care and equipment maintenance. This position is based in Panorama City but will require travel to other locations in the Los Angeles area. 10-15 hours per week to start, with room to grow the position if desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with plant care, pest management, and sanitation of Farmstands for R&D and marketing purposes
- Clean and maintain hydroponic equipment and R&D area of our warehouse
- Off site (local) travel for Farmstand set up and/or maintenance
- Job entails standing for a full shift, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting frequently
- Occasionally will have to lift up to 50 pounds
- Indoor and outdoor settings, working with water, live plants and plant care products—must be willing to get your hands dirty!
REQUIREMENTS
- Interest in plants, gardening and/or sustainable agriculture
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable, punctual, with a positive attitude
- Dedicated to keeping a clean, professional working environment
- Experience with basic computer skills
- Excellent oral communication and time management skills
- Drivers license and dependable vehicle for off site travel (local)
- Horticultural or sustainability experience a plus
