Ranch Manager Junior
Location: Oxnard, CA
Type: Full-time, field-based position
Pay Scale: $68,640 - $79,500
Languages Required: Fluent English & Spanish
Travel Requirement: Up to 10% (domestic)
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee daily crop operations by supporting irrigation setup (drip and spray), planting, nutrient/pest management, pruning, and harvesting processes.
- Manage pesticide & fertilizer programs assisting with organic/conventional applications, documentation, testing, and adjustment.
- Lead small teams recruiting, training, and supervising field staff; ensure compliance with safety, labor, and food‑safety standards.
- Execute trials & technological improvements running horticultural experiments (e.g., trellis, frost control), integrating agronomic best practices, and sharing findings internally.
- Maintain data & budgets tracking production metrics, preparing reports, supporting budgeting and cost control, and coordinating with the client on forecasts and quality.
- Implement scientific soil health strategies by monitoring and adjusting pH, salinity, EC; manage substrate/soil health and microbial programs to boost yields.
Who are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences (required for agronomy track) OR high school diploma with ≥5 years of relevant agriculture experience
- Minimum 1 year in production agriculture (berry crop experience preferred)
- Berry crop production expertise (supplier management, irrigation techniques, nutrition, IPM, growing methods, resource management, and budget oversight)
- Familiarity with drip irrigation, nutrient chemistry, plant pathology, IPM, data analysis, and ag software
- Strong leadership, communication, critical thinking, organizational, and budget management skills
- Valid driver’s license with company-insurable profile
